Default The HA Weekend Event (Double Fame and 6 Man Teams!)

This weekend. ANET has announed tombs (hero's ascent) will be teams of 6 v 6.... That is fine. Dandy. Great. Good Idea!.

But then THEY RUIN IT! Double FAME!?! Why can't the new kids EARN it like everybody else did....

Noobs will be rampant. Everybody and their mother will have their tiger... Rank (once again thanks to iway) will me nothing. Not taht it does currently.

Once you hit the 40 fame per win that is 420ish fame just OFF OF ONE RUN!!!!!!

People cry to ANET about elitism. I despise that stuff.

However. ANET is trying to help this. ITS NOT GOING TO HELP! This will just widen the gap between high ranked and unranked players and ultimately hurt people.

Anet really really needs to rethink this and back out immediately.

Anybody elses thoughts?

I think the 6v6 is a much better change than anything I would have thought of. Fame is meaningless so doubling it is just the incentive for people to play. What I like about the 6 man teams is that not only does it minimize holding potential, but also will reduce the amount of og spikes owning face.

So I say gg anet <3

Everybody tries saying rank is meaningless.... well the fact of the matter is, no matter how much you say it... its not true. If it were, you wouldnt have thousands of Iwayers,Bpikes, Etc. farming it each and everyday. 90% of pvpers in this game want fame, they want rank, they want that shiny new emote. Rank is constently used in this game as a basis of one's skill and experience. You can say rank doesnt show skill, and in many cases, you are right. Yet, look at the applications to most guilds, they ask for your rank/fame. It's really the only thing in this game other than knowing the person that shows any sign of skill or experience. This weekend will do nothing but destroy the already flawed rank system. If you're r9, you'll be r10-12 by the end of the weekend. If you're r1, you'll be r1 at the end of the weekend. As SS stated... this is gonna just greatly increase the fame difference between players. I think it's probably the worst thing that could have been done to HA. Sure, the 6v6 is cool, spikes may not be as powerful... but you know what? Nor will your monking... so guess what anyone with a brain is gonna do.... run massive pressure. This weekend will be filled with mods of the already overused iway/vim/smite/thumpers. You may not get spiked.... but those 3-4 thumpers are gonna mow through your backline so fast they wont have time to spike.

Do you have your 6 man fame farming build ready for this weekend? I do, and if you wanna keep up with the GW community in rank/fame.... you better too. If anet doesnt wanna rethink this horrible idea... I'm going to take advantage of it... I'm gonna take my r9+ friends and just walk through halls owning all the r0+ teams rushing to HA this weekend in an attempt to get some fame.

GG anet, never ceases to amaze me how much you can destroy pvp with each and every update you come out with.

I see this as a welcome change - as it stands currently, HA is often considered a casual PvP alternative when not GvG'ing, except that the 8-player requirement means you're probably better off GvG'ing anyway if you've scraped together that many guildies. With a req of 6 players, I see it quite feasible to set up an HA team when 4 or 5 guildies are online, and either take a friend or two or just pug the rest.

As for the increase fame, well, fame/rank sucks, it's farmable, yada yada yada.

The 6-player thing is what really caught my eye.

Fame can go to hell.

Remind me what region you play in, where complete pvp trash can pick up HA and hold 5 times, so I can go farm a r12 emote there.

I like how they bill it as a "Labor Day Weekend Event" even though Labor Day is only celebrated in USA and Canada as far as I know.
I think the 6v6 will be a nice change. The mindless iwayers and bspikers will actually have to figure out how to play with two less people.

Actually, they'll have to figure out how to press B and see what the winning teams are running.

There are going to be a LOT more decent players in tombs this weekend, than there will be noobs. Most of the GvG crowd I know are planning long runs to get their next emote, since they quit tombs months ago.

Pfff, Fame is just a pathetic title and emote, anyone who is good will realise that it is unimportant. The gladiator titles are much better I say.

Don't be silly.

The change to six man builds is huge, and I think it was a brilliant move by Anet. It opens up scope for a whole new variety of builds, and with the influx of GvG players looking to experiment and have some fun i'm pretty sure you will see some inventive stuff over the weekend.

Any group of less experienced players going to tombs this weekend is going to come up against some seriously stiff competition. Any double fame earnt should be well worth it.

Hmm - threads about this topic seem to grow on every tree now - maybe let's merge them.

As for event - I love the idea of 6-man teams. Something to experiment. Also will break the mold of iway, vim and b-spike, making tombs fun again.

The whole weekend is a very good chance for newer players to get a grip at Heroes Ascent. The change to 6 Players affects everyone. It basically prevents current builds to a degree so the typical HA Team just can't steamroll with their 0815 Cookie Cutter Build but instead have to adapt. Many teams will be just "ugh" but there will also be some interesting ideas. And maybe, we'll see a few newcomers do exceptionally well.

The people that are bitter about this are probably the ones that think Rank means anything and love to discriminate. In the fashion of "how dare the noob entering enter MY realm?".
